Lettera dal presidente – english version follows

Ciao Touchers,

prima di tutto vorrei augurarvi un felice anno nuovo. Quest’anno sara` emozionante per Touch Rugy italia. Abbiamo il nostro primo Campionato Italiano ufficialmente riconosciuto dalla Federazione Internazionale di Touch (FIT), abbiamo Dennis Coffey, il migliore allenatore internazionale della FIT che sta venendo in Italia per allestire un corso di allenamento e abbiamo svariati altri tornei nazionali e internazionali FIT.

Prima di andare nei dettagli dei nostri piani per quest’anno vorrei riflettere un’attimo sui pensieri che ho avuto ieri mente guardavo l’inaugurazione di Barrack Obama, e`il 44esimo presidente degli stati uniti, in tutta la loro storia di nazione hanno avuto 44 presidenti, e sono una superpotenza mondiale. In Italia abbiamo avuto piu` di 62 governi negli ultimi 63 anni. Siamo una nazione in crisi, perche` non siamo d’accordo su niente, sempre divisi, non facciamo mai nulla per il bene di tutti. Uno dei miei obbiettivi quando sono diventato presidente era di prevenire che questo accadesse al Touch in Italia. Per essere riconosciuti da CONI dobbiamo avere piu` di 1000 atleti registrati, se riusciamo a realizzare questo si aprira` un nuovo mondo di fondi e supporto per il nostro sport. Non arriveremo mai a questo se siamo divisi. Il mio comitato ed io abbiamo contattato LITR ed offerto la nostra piena collaborazione. Gli abbiamo offerto concessioni ed autonomia nell’organizzare il nord-est, quello che vogliamo e` un Touch unito in Italia. Siccome TRI e` officialmente riconosciuto da FIT, la federazione internazionale Touch, siamo la sola entita` che puo` mandare squadre a tornei internazionali e che puo` offrire corsi di allenatori e arbitri internazionalmente riconosciuti. Potevamo dire “a noi non importa delle altre organizzazioni, noi siamo riconosciuti e loro no” ma quello non e` nello spirito del Touch. Quindi chiedo a tutti: unitevi a TRI, facciamo crescere insieme Touch in italia, per una volta facciamo vedere al mondo che possiamo essere uniti, che possiamo andare d’accordo su che cos’e` la cosa migliore per l’Italia, non per individui o regioni. La nostra offerta di accogliere LITR a fare parte di TRI e` ancora aperta e forte. Se LITR non vuole collaborare e` la loro perogativa, e se tu come individuo vuoi fare parte di tutte e due le organizzazioni non ti fermera` nessuno. Abbiamo un obbiettivo: di fare cio` che e` meglio per il Touch in Italia, unitevi a noi per ottenere cio`!

Il Campionato Italiano

Il campionato Italiano di quest’anno si svolgera nell’arco di 4 tornei. Il calendario e` sul sito della TRI e avremo tornei a Taranto, Mantova, Belluno e Milano. TRI usera` i tornei come una base per la selezione dei giocatori per le squadre internazionali sia per il Campionate Europeo l’anno prossimo sia per la coppa Mainland quest’anno. I tornei saranno giocati secondo le regole FIT internazionali e arbitrate da arbitri FIT internazionalmente qualificati. Siccome vogliamo poter scegliere le migliori squadre possibili per rappresentare l’Italia incoraggio tutti di iscriversi ai tornei. Per incoraggiare le squadre ad essere miste e ad avere giocatori sia giovani sia vecchi e` stato ideato un sistema di handicap. Tutti i dettagli si potranno trovare sul sito della TRI prossimamente.

Dennis Coffey Allenatore FIT dall’Australia

Ci sara` un corso di 3 giorni a Verona per allenatori il 1^, 2^ e 3^ di maggio allestito dal migliore allenatore internazionale FIT, Dennis Coffey; il costo del corso e`di € 80 e questo copre il training e tutto il materiale di corso. Alla fine ne uscirete con un certificato internazionalmente riconosciuto dalla FIT. Ancora i dettagli sono sul sito. Siccome il corso e` organizzato dalla FIT solo le squadre affiliate alla FIT e rappresentati da TRI in Italia possono mandare allenatori a partecipare. Un altro grande motivo per unirsi a TRI.

Chiediamo a tutte le squadre TRI due cose quest’anno.
Che paghino la somma di € 120 per l’affiliazione annuale a TRI; questa somma andrà a coprire spese utili, quali ad esempio l’hotel di Dennis mentre è in Italia e per pagare i voli e le spese vive degli arbitri internazionali per il nostro Campionato Italiano. Le nostre squadre sono andate eccezionalmente bene l’anno scorso al Campionato Europeo, successo dovuto all’esperienza nel giocare con arbitri internazionali in tornei internazionali come per esempio Vienna, vogliamo continuare quella esperienza quest’anno.
In secondo luogo chiediamo a tutte le squadre di ritirare da TRI la loro tessera AICS (soltanto una intestata al capitano della squadra), il cui costo è incluso nei 120 euro dell’affiliazione. Sottolineo il fatto che le squadre dovranno occuparsi autonomamente della copertura assicurativa dei loro giocatori; a breve pubblicheremo nel sito TRI le istruzioni per associare una squadra all’AICS, per avere la copertura assicurativa. Ci sono anche altri modi per avere la stessa copertura; questo è quello che molte squadre TRI hanno valutato più semplice ed economico..

In conclusione chiedo a tutti di sostenere TRI con il nostro obbiettivo di avere una organizzazione di Touch in Italia, siamo riconosciuti da FIT e siamo pronti a lavorare con tutti voi per rendere il Touch in Italia un successo. Insieme ci riusciremo, facciamo vedere al mondo un’Italia unita, riguardando la nostra performance l’anno scorso a Parigi non ho dubbi che insieme potremmo vincere il gruppo >40 ai prossimi Campionati Europei e arrivare alle semi-finali o finali con il gruppo misto. Separati rimarremo parte di quello che “The Economist” chiama i paesi PIGS (maiali per interderci) (Portogallo, Italia, Grecia e Spagna), paesi che si stanno comportando molto al di sotto del livello do tutti gli altri in Europa – questo perche` non sono capace ad unirsi al loro interno e fare cio` che e` meglio per l’intero paese.

Hello fellow Touchers

First of all I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year. This year is going to be an exciting one for Touch Rugby Italia. We have our first officially (FIT) recognized Italian Championship, we have Dennis Coffey, the top international coach in FIT coming to Italy to run a training course and we have numerous other FIT international and national tournaments taking place.

Before I go into the details of our plans for this year I want to reflect a minute on the thoughts I had yesterday watching the presidential inauguration of Barrack Obama – he is the 44th president of the USA – In all of their history as a nation they have had 44 presidents, and they are a world superpower – In italy we have had over 62 governments in the last 63 years. We are a nation in crisis, because we cannot agree on anything – always divided, never doing anything in the best interests of the whole. One of my aims when I became president was to avoid this happening to Touch in Italy. To be recognized by CONI we need to have over 1000 registered athletes, if we can achieve this it will open up a whole new world of funding and support for our sport. We will never achieve this divided. My committee and I have reached out to LITR and offered our full collaboration. We have offered them concessions and autonomy in managing the North East – what we want is a united Touch in Italy. Since TRI is officially recognized by FIT – the international Touch Federation – we are the only entity that can send teams to international tournaments and which can offer internationally recognized coaching and refereeing courses. We could have said – we do not care about other organizations they are not recognized and we are – but that is not the spirit of Touch. So I ask you all – join TRI – let us grow Touch in Italy together – let us for once show the world that we can be united, that we can agree on what is in the best interests of Italy – not of individuals or regions. Our offer to welcome LITR into TRI remains open and strong. If LITR do not want to collaborate that is their prerogative – and if you as an individual want to belong to both organizations we are not going to try and stop you. We have one goal – to do what is best for Touch in Italy – join us in achieving this!.

The Italian Championship

This years Italian championship will take place over 4 tournaments. The schedule is on the TRI web site and we will have tournaments in Taranto, Mantova, Belluno and Milano. TRI will use the tournaments as a basis for the selection of players for the national teams for both the European Championships next year and the Mainland cup this year. The tournaments will be played to international FIT rules and refereed by internationally qualified FIT referees. Again since we want to be able to select the best possible teams to represent Italy I encourage all of you to sign up for the tournaments. To encourage teams to be mixed and to encourage them to have both old and young players a handicap system has been developed. All the details can be found on the TRI web site.

Dennis Coffey FIT Coach from Australia

We will be running a 3 day training course for coaches in Verona on the 1st 2nd and 3rd of May run by the top international FIT coach Dennis Coffey – the cost of the course is €80 and this covers the training and all the course material. At the end you will come out with a coaching certificate which is internationally recognized by FIT. Again details are on the web site. As the course is arranged by FIT only FIT affiliated sides represented by TRI in Italy can send coaches to participate. Again another great reason to join TRI.

We are asking all the TRI sides for two things this year. That they pay a subscription fee of €120 – the expenditure of this money will be totally transparent and will go to things like paying for Dennis’s accommodation while he is in Italy and will pay for the flights and expenses of the International referees for our Italian Championship. Our sides did exceptionally well last year at the European Championships and that was by and large due to their experience in playing with international referees in international tournaments like Vienna for example – we want to continue that proven experience this year. Secondly we are asking all the sides to get from TRI their team AiCS card – the cost of which is included in the subbscription,– and then for them to sign up each team member with AiCS in their region so that the teams are covered for insurance purposes.

In summary I ask you all to support TRI in meeting our goal of having one Touch organization in Italy – we are recognized by FIT and are willing to work with all of you to make Touch in Italy a success – Together we can do this, let us show the world a united Italy – on our performances last year in Paris I have no doubt that together we could win the >40 age group at the next European championships and get into the semi finals or finals in the mixed – separately we will remain what the Economist calls one of the PIGS (Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain) – countries performing well below the level of everyone else in Europe because they cannot unite and do what is best for the whole.
